Parent Council

Support students & staff by enhancing our school & programs

August 2017

Dear Parents,

On behalf of your Parent Advisory Council, I want to extend a warm welcome back to another wonderful year at Menorah Academy. To all of our new families, thank you for joining our school; we look forward to your becoming an integral part of our Menorah family.  To all of our returning families, thank you for your ongoing support.  Your continued efforts allow PAC to stay so integrally involved in our children’s daily lives at school.

We are pleased to inform you that your contributions in the past year have enabled us to accomplish some great tasks in school, from library upgrades and staff thank you brunches to afterschool clubs and new technology. This will provide our children and teachers with a warm and vibrant environment for more effective learning. Please note that we can always use more books; please contact the main office to donate books – perhaps in honor of a birthday!

Parent Council focus this year will be about increasing fundraising and volunteerism. Our primary objective as a Parent Council is to provide our school with funds, resources, and services that will enrich and enhance the education of every child, create and support new initiatives, provide insight and direction into school policy and programs, and cultivate a positive school culture by supporting our teachers through regular expressions of parent appreciation.

To meet this important objective, our school community must raise money to continue to provide the exciting in-school events, holiday enrichment, trips, hot lunch, teacher workshops, and student programs that we have in the past. It is of utmost importance that we do everything we can to enhance the learning environment of our children.

We ask all parents to get involved by volunteering and participating in our events.  Volunteering doesn’t have to mean a huge time commitment.  We understand it is difficult to find time to give, but please, whatever your time schedule allows, we have need of you.  We even have tasks that can be performed in the evenings, during the day, or that don’t even involve coming to the school at all.  If you have insight, constructive criticism, or suggestions to help improve our school, please join our executive council and attend our bi-monthly meetings.

Volunteering in our children’s school is an extremely rewarding experience. We become admirable role models for our children, we enhance their daily school experience and we get   immeasurable joy seeing the smiles on their faces.

By working together, we can meet our common goals and continue to support our children’s wonderful school experience at Menorah Academy.

I look forward to working with you throughout the year.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and sweet New Year,

Shira Sheckter
